Aquatarium at Tall Ships Landing

Experience all that the Thousand Islands has to offer under one roof.

The Aquatarium is a state of the art 27,000 square foot Discovery Centre built on the waterfront in beautiful downtown Brockville.  It’s focus is the wonders of the 1000 Islands region intertwining stories of history, culture, wildlife and the environment with technology.  Come in and see otters play, climb on replicas of mighty ships that once sailed these waters, or watch a film about this amazing region in the interactive theatre. Learn why beluga whales once called this region home, try your hand at navigating a Boston Whaler or inch your way thru the rigging of a tall ship on the high ropes course.  You can see even try to count all the native species of fresh water fish housed in the aquaria.  There is so much to do that you’ll need more than one visit to explore it all.

The Aquatarium’s site began as a patch of land beside Brockville’s municipal harbour on the St. Lawrence River.   If you step back in time, it was the site of the St. Lawrence Engine Company, builders of small 2-cylinder marine engines. Fueled by lofty dreams, abundant passion and a steadfast determination to showcase the wonders of this beloved region, it was meticulously transformed into a discovery centre.  17+ interactive experiences interconnect adventure and education, inviting visitors to experience nature and nautical science first-hand through delightful storytelling, entertainment and play.

Once piqued, we hope your curiosity will inspire you to venture out and visit all the amazing places that make the 1000 Islands region so fascinating.  Visit local landmarks and explore the waterways. Learn about the abundant species that call our region home and how many of them are at risk. Take a moment to appreciate the Lakers as they silently make their way up and down the St. Lawrence River with new knowledge of how they are playing their part in conservation.  Start your journey at the Aquatarium today and they will help you uncover so much more about this wonderful place!
